My wife Dani is battling postpartum depression, and our six-year-old, struggling with jealousy, wants nothing to do with his new sibling.

I’m head over heels for my family, but I have to focus on hockey—even if I can’t shake the feeling that something’s off. The festive season is spiraling, and I’m determined to bring back the cheer.

Getting traded to a new team was never in the game plan. Neither was hiring a nanny who happens to be as skilled on the ice as she is irresistible off it.

She’s everything I didn’t know I was missing. Fierce. Funny. Impossible to ignore.

As she transforms our new house into something that finally feels like home, I find myself wanting more than I should allow myself to have.

But she has dreams waiting for her elsewhere, while my life is firmly rooted here.

But, she has her own dreams and they don’t include staying here.

If I don’t figure out what I truly want, what we could be together, she’ll be gone before I get the chance to find out.
